Taking care of your child’s oral health is crucial in ensuring their well-being and preventing the onset of unforeseen dental conditions. Developing oral diseases not only affects the child’s physical health but their emotional state as well, which is why dentists give a lot of prominence to pediatric dental care.
In recent times, most educational institutions would ask you to provide a dental health report of your child when they resume school after their vacation. In fact, it is mandatory in some schools, and the students are not allowed to continue without it. Hence, this would be a good time to bring your child to the dentist’s practice for a back-to-school dental exam.
The dentist will thoroughly diagnose the child’s oral cavity to check for tartar deposits and the onset of cavities. In the case of tartar deposits, we will remove them using ultrasonic scaling - a non-invasive and painless procedure to remove tartar effectively. Cavities will be treated by removing the decay and filling them using suitable tooth-colored fillings. We will also check the child’s bite to determine the presence of a malocclusion, and if necessary, suitable orthodontic solutions will be recommended.
Dental x-rays are used to detect the onset of cavities in the teeth, especially on the hard-to-view parts of the mouth, such as the posterior teeth. They also help us get a better view of the underlying jawbone and tooth roots, which are used in monitoring the growth of the teeth. In case you are suffering from malocclusion, we will use the data to draw out suitable orthodontic treatment plans. You may be bothered about the ill-effects of x-rays on your child. But, there is nothing to worry about, as we use x-rays equipment that produces significantly lesser radiation, and we take x-rays only when absolutely necessary.
Sealants are one of the simplest means to avoid cavities in the molars and premolars. They are tooth-colored acrylic applicants placed on the occlusal grooves, which prevents the deposition of microbes in them. It is a fool-proof way to avoid cavities and is quite affordable.
A mouthguard is an oral appliance used to protect the teeth from oral trauma, such as while playing sports. It is advisable for all young athletes to use a mouthguard, as it is a small investment that can save you from a lot of pain and trouble. We recommend a customized mouthguard as it offers excellent fit and comfort, along with protecting the teeth from high impact forces.
